RGIS and I part ways

I’ve been at RGIS for about 4 years now. Over three of those years it’s been as the Manager of Telecommunications.

On June 2nd that came to an end, as I was terminated. Why? Largely because of one douche bag we’ll call “Bob”.

Captain, the decency filter is off-line!

One of the websites I visit regularly is Trek Web, where I get a daily dose of information about Star Trek. One of the panes on the website routinely posts photos from Flickr that are Star Trek tagged. There is usually some photos of actors, products or toys, convention, or gaming photos. Just about anything.

Today, however, I visit the site and lo and behold there are a number of pictures of topless-and-not-censored Marina Sirtis (Counselor Troi, Star Trek: The Next Generation). I know that the photos are pulled by some bot or something and that there is no “decency filter” that intercepts the process, but I just found it amusing. I figured it wouldn’t be there for long, so I thought I’d make a screen capture…for posterity.

You can click the image below for the full-size version.

What’s even more interesting is that there is a poll about Marina underneath the images.

Irritating

I am becoming increasingly annoyed at people who think that I need to think the way they think, or that if I do not think the way that they do that I am incorrect.

Just because I do not agree with you does not mean that I am wrong or that you are right.

Similarly, if I do something I do it because I think it’s the best way to do it given the circumstances. If I do something and it’s not the way you would have done it does not mean that I have done it wrong, it means that I have done it differently. I recently got rid of an asshole boss who thought like this (although this is not directed specifically at him).

The next time you try to throw your opinion in as if it is the way, prepared to be sorely mistaken.

The House is On the Market

Ok, so we were visit by our realtor the other day and decided that the time was right to put the house on the market. Whether it sells or not is another thing, but we’re going to try again.

For the longest time we said that when we didn’t have any more kids at home we’d move to a better climate. Not to Florida, like senior citizens, but somewhere the has more warm and less winter. We’ve bandied about Las Vegas, the D.C. area, and recently started considering Indiana. I’ve been contacted about possible work in Arizona, St. Louis Misery, and North Carolina.

If we can sell it, and if I can get work, we’ll be moving away. It’s a great chance to refresh, start over, and go somewhere new.

Wish us luck…and if you’re looking for a house in downtown Holly, lemme know!
