So, for the second year in a row I was able to attend Jobbie Nooner with my brother and his wife on their boat, the AquaHolic. It was, of course, an awesome and incredibly alcohol-filled day.

For your enjoyment, my photos of the event are below.

Unemployed

I’ve been unemployed for a little over two weeks now. The real story is in a blog entry that will post next month, but suffice it to say that, due to the heroic efforts of a man I’ve despised for four years, I was released on June 2. What he doesn’t realize is that he did me a favor and didn’t hurt me at all, which is what I’m sure he was trying to do. It was, more than anything, LIBERATING.

*snap* Sorry to disappoint you!

Funny that it took them the better part of two weeks to remove my access to all the vendor websites that I’d visit frequently.

In a way I’m very relieved, since I had no authority at all and my hands were tied to accomplish the slightest thing.

An old boss of mine has offered to give me some work, which is good. While I’m in no immediate rush to get back to the 8 to 5, I still must have the income, so I’ll do that while I’m getting unemployment and looking for a full-time gig. In the meantime I’m rather surprised that I can get done. One of the biggest things is not having to get up at 5:30 in the morning, but it’s also spending more time with my wife and our Sheltie, Dante.

I can get things done around the house. I can work on things like my various websites, my radio station, and getting my unemployment going. I can look, also, into finding work.

We are seriously considering moving out of state. Next week we’ll talk to our Realtor (pronounce REAL-TORE, not REAL-A-TORE, like so many uneducated fucks do) about putting the house on the market. If she thinks we have a good chance at selling it we’ll put it up and I’ll start looking out of state. We won’t get to see the kids as often, but there is absolutely no reason, other than that, to stay in such a…depressing state.

Ok, I’m babbling. Have a great (insert whatever time of day it is that you are reading this)!

Missing Child

I am SO god-damned tired of hearing about children being abducted, killed, abused, exploited, and mistreated.

Please make this stop. It’s killing me.

WHNN – The Program Director doesn’t care what you think.

Posted on 11th June 2010 by Jim! in Amusing,Annoying,FM Radio,Radio - Tags: , , , , , ,

One day I was listening to WHNN (96.1 FM) as I do when working around the house and yard. In one particular spot I heard the DJ (Scott Stine) say a couple of things that made me take notice, so I wrote an email. That email is below.

I was listening to WHNN as I do rather regularly and in one spot yesterday afternoon you said two things that I take issue with.

1) You said that WHNN.com is best viewed using a Charter Internet connection. I’m sure there is some kind of arrangement w/Charter that mandates that you say that, but aside from a dial-up connection, there will be absolutely NO difference with anyone’s browsing or listening experience, regardless of who the Internet Service Provider is. That is, in effect, false advertising.

2) After Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” you went to back-sell the song and said it was “Some kind of special healing”. I’d like to shake your hand and thank you for setting broadcasting and censorship back TWENTY YEARS. Is that kind of…censorship necessary? Really? Is your next step going to be to edit the lyrics of the song itself? I find this particular kind of take on things ridiculous and condescending to your listening audience. Do you also do the same thing for Hot Chocolate’s “You Sexy Thing”, making it “You some kinda special thing”? Haven’t we gotten past this yet? Did the countless number of artists change the song title? NO. Not even Carz 108 in Flint pulls this kind of stunt.

Again, I’d like to personally thank you for setting broadcasting and censorship back 20 years. It managed to lose a pretty faithful listener.

I didn’t think he’d write back, and I was pleasantly surprised when he did…until I read the most condescending email I’ve ever gotten from someone who is supposed to be a local “celebrity”. That email is below.
