On Saturday, April 18 my wife and I booked passage on the Star Trek Cruise!
Star Trek Cruise
On October 11 we’ll be flying from Flint, MI to Los Angeles and then taking a shuttle to the dock where we will depart on a seven-day voyage on board the Mariner of the Seas. We debated on this for quite a while, but decided that 1) we’ve always wanted to go on a cruise and b) This would be a great First Cruise to go on. Since we’re both big Star Trek fans we couldn’t pass up the opportunity.
On board the cruise will be Star Trek actors Garret Wang, Marina Sirtis, Chase Masterson (YOWZA!), Tim Russ, and Alan Ruck (“when Cameron was in Egypt’s land”…).
The countdown for the cruise in on the upper left corner of this page…and it’s moving much too slowly…
My friend Pam passed this along via Twitter and I found it absolutely amazing. You may want to read about it in order to understand the video fully. I’m not sure if it was a class project, a task of curiosity, or a social experiment, but the results are incredible.
I couldn’t resist the temptation to post this. I admit I shop at Wal*Mart almost weekly, and even worked there for a few years. High-Five to the person that created this, though, because it is spot-on.
…one thing I find that irritates me to no end is people who feed their Twitter updates with RSS feeds. It clouds the tweet stream and it’s simply extremely annoying to have to scroll through someone’s 6-10 tweets to look for something. If you want to share something do it manually instead of with some automated process. Got a website? Put the shit in there where it won’t piss people off.
I enjoy blogging, even though I don’t do it with any regularity. For the most part I use this blog to share items of interest more than to expound on Life and Jim! Today, however, a couple of practices came to mind that I felt I need to address.
1) People who insist upon claiming their spot as the first respondent of any blog/news/video post. You see it all the time on YouTube and on any number of blogs and news sites that I frequent. The inevitable “FIRST!!” someone proudly proclaims when they think they’ve made the first comment to whatever they’ve just finished reading. I find that, more often than not, they make that entry to wave their hands in the air and plant a metaphorical flag on it instead of contributing to what they’re following.
On May, 8, 2009 the new Star Trek movie comes out. Based upon the many reviews and comments I’ve read this movie will reignite the franchise and appears to be an extraordinarily kick-ass movie.
I ran across this video and had to share it. It’s an extremely well done tribute video about passing the torch from The Original Series cast to the new cast. It is done by SpockBoy. You can visit his YouTube page here. I implore you to visit and subscribe. He does great work.
Anyone who knows me knows that I have been a loyal XM Radio subscriber for quite some time. “Quite some time” meaning since about 2002. In that time I’ve expanded my musical listening genres, enjoyed countless hours of uncensored stand-up comedy, been saddened by the demise of some great stations (XM84, Chrome), and when they toppled the statue of Saddam Hussein I was listening to it on XM, as well as the beginning of the “Shock & Awe” bombardment.
