Zipster08 – “What the hell’s amadda with people?”
Zipster08 has long been one of my favorite YouTube personalities. He’s intelligent, passionate, funny, and insightful. He’s also very genuine. You’ll see what I mean in this video.

You decide which adjective best describes Denise Richards’ recent rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”.
I enjoy blogging, even though I don’t do it with any regularity. For the most part I use this blog to share items of interest more than to expound on Life and Jim! Today, however, a couple of practices came to mind that I felt I need to address.
1) People who insist upon claiming their spot as the first respondent of any blog/news/video post. You see it all the time on YouTube and on any number of blogs and news sites that I frequent. The inevitable “FIRST!!” someone proudly proclaims when they think they’ve made the first comment to whatever they’ve just finished reading. I find that, more often than not, they make that entry to wave their hands in the air and plant a metaphorical flag on it instead of contributing to what they’re following.
On May, 8, 2009 the new Star Trek movie comes out. Based upon the many reviews and comments I’ve read this movie will reignite the franchise and appears to be an extraordinarily kick-ass movie.
I ran across this video and had to share it. It’s an extremely well done tribute video about passing the torch from The Original Series cast to the new cast. It is done by SpockBoy. You can visit his YouTube page here. I implore you to visit and subscribe. He does great work.
As you know I spend a lot of time on YouTube. A video that Lance and I posted on our YouTube page featuring our good friend Shawn Colton singing Tenacious D’s “Wonderboy” was featured on Panels on Pages. This is a great honor for Lance and I (who posted the video), but even more so for our friend Shawn, the talent in front of the camera with his talent and panache for making everything he sings absolutely rock.
Here, friends, is that video.
KateReadsBook is one of the funniest, original, off-the-wall individuals I’ve ever seen. Her views of … well… anything are fresh and, quite often, completely out of left field.
This recent video showcases her unique look at things.
You can view her YouTube page <a title=”Kate Reads Boooks” href=”http://www.youtube.com/user/KateReadsBooks” target=”_blank”>here</a>.
If you know me at all you know that I’m a huge fan of (almost) everything Star Trek. I have been, in fact, since The Original Series started. Because of that I’m always delighted when someone takes Star Trek out of the norm and freshens it up.
This video is that very well…and to the beat of an 80s tune!
I’ve been a fan of Spricket24 (Karen Alloy) on YouTube for a very long time. I think I might have fallen into one of the “first 200 subscribers” category. She’s consistent, entertaining, clever, and extensively easy on the eyes. In fact she may be one of the first people I subscribed to on YouTube.
Now that I think of it she is my number one favorite female YouTuber.
I enjoy her vlogs immensely, and she’s become a bit of a YouTube celebrity. It’s her concept videos, though, that I’ve always enjoyed the most. She’s outlandish at time, endearing at time, and down right saddening at others, but nonetheless she’s entertaining and engrossing.
This is a video she recently posted and is an example of one of her concept videos. This outstanding video shows not only how talented she is, but also how one person can create something so incredibly good.
Unfortunately I don’t have that kind of talent, so I’m envious of those who do.
From the time when I was a young teenager I’ve been a fan of “Monty Python’s Flying Circus”.. When I attended a Gifted Student’s Institute at the University of Michigan in 1976 (ouch…that would be 33 years ago) a group of us would mimic the Pythons and even filmed a video that was very Python-esque where we hauled some guy off to the looooney bin.
The names of those involved have long-since left my memory, but the fact that we were imitating (rather successfully) the zany, chaotic antics of these people we idolized is still with me.
I have the 16-disc DVD set that contains the entire series and it never fails to make me laugh. Being American I’m sure there are plenty of jokes that I just don’t get, but I’m amused nonetheless.
This video is from the Monty Python YouTube channel that I just found out about. I think Jay Roach says it best when he says “What the Beetles did for Rock & Roll, Monty Python did for comedy.”
I bring you the incredibly awesome trailer for the next Star Trek movie.
…well…sort of…
